Herndon company to host conference on accessibility

Deque Systems, a Herndon tech company, will hold axe-con, a conference on digital accessibility, next month.

Digital accessibility refers to how designers can make apps, online documents, and the web easier to navigate for all users. This is the first year for axe-con, and Deque hopes that the conference will establish a new standard for discussing digital accessibility. In accordance with COVID-19 prevention measures, the entire event will happen online, but Deque aims to host subsequent axe-cons both offline and online.

The event will feature speakers from across the United States who work in the tech industry. The speakers will talk about how firms and designers can make more accessible designs and ways to test for accessibility. Speakers will also discuss how to bring accessibility beyond just the product. Guests will learn about how to implement accessibility into a company’s organizational structure, and how accessibility can support those with disabilities.

When not attending talks, guests can also engage in virtual entertainment sessions or chat with other guests. Deque will also give away Promotional Products, and entrants can enter for a chance to win.

The conference will take place on March 10 and 11. Both days will run between 9:00 AM and 8:30 PM. Registration is free and can be done at the event’s website, which also provides more information on the speakers attending and the schedule for the event.
