A local organization that puts on comic book conventions has had so much success, it is returning with another event.
Fairfax Comic Con notes that it 2022 shows received such outstanding support from everyone that the group has decided to hold two more shows in 2023, albeit with a “twist.” The upcoming show is only one day long, with the larger two-day show planned for later in the year. The mini event is called “Fairfax Comic Con Jr.”
This smaller event will still have special guests, exhibitors and vendors, and a cosplay contest. Guests include Ian McGinty, Paul Rugg, Brian Watts, and organizations like L.B. Cosplays and Hampton Roads Droid Builders.
The rules for the cosplay contest include the facts all entries must cover the wearer’s “swimsuit areas,” that nothing can be thrown from the stage, that no explosions or pyrotechnics can be used, and that no rude hand gestures are allowed. The characters recreated can be from card games, video games, cartoons, comic Books, TV shows, movies, or published works. Anyone entering the contest automatically gives tacit permission to be recorded. Adult, Group, and Children’s categories are available.
Fairfax Comic Con Jr. is scheduled for March 4 at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly. Tickets are on sale now and will go quickly. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create maps for visitors.
