After being canceled in 2018 due to bad weather, the Dulles Day Plane Pull is coming back.
The event is to be hosted at the Washington Dulles International Airport in Chantilly. It features teams of 25 people competing to pull 82-ton planes as fast as possible. Other competitions include 5k and 10k runs on the airport tarmac and a special competition for kids where they can pull dump trucks. Spectators will also get to enjoy a collection of vintage planes, classic cars, and high-tech modern aircraft.
Vendors are encouraged to open up stalls at the event for a small fee. They will be able to sell their wares to the more than 15,000 people expected to attend the event and hand out their Business Cards to prospective clients. People who wish to show off their vintage or military aircraft can take advantage of free landing and parking on the event’s day.
The aim of the event is to raise money for the Virginia Special Olympics team. This year, the event hopes to help a young boy named Lukas who was infected with E. coli at age four and endured complete kidney failure. Thankfully, he was able to recover and regained 50% of his kidneys’ functions. He refused to let the condition hold him back and now wants to be a part of the national Special Olympics teams for swimming and basketball.
The event will take place on September 14th, 2019.
