Chantilly arts space to offer travel-inspired summer camps

Craftspace is starting its crafting summer camp series in Chantilly this June.

The camps have a travel theme, with each week’s crafts inspired by a different destination. Campers will make a suitcase to keep their work in, and they will complete crafts using a variety of techniques throughout the week. Each week will also feature a guest artist who will teach a specific technique such as crochet or paper quilling.

The June themes will be tropical islands and traditional camping. Themes later in the summer will be based on types of destinations like the beach, the desert, and the city, as well as more specific regions like Europe, the Outback, and Asia. The full schedule is available on Craftspace’s website.

Craftspace also hosts open crafting sessions and adult classes. Its summer camps are appropriate for children ages 6 to 13. Each session runs from Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and costs $400 per child. Those planning to attend multiple weeks will need to purchase each session separately. Food is not included, so parents should pack lunch and two snacks for each camp day. All food should be nut-free. Local businesses often use flyer printing services to promote their camps and other seasonal events.

The 2024 summer camps at Craftspace will start on Monday, June 17 and run weekly through August 9.
