Utah Symphony plays the classics
The Utah Symphony will be performing classical music and music from a classic movie during October.
Classical music lovers will be delighted to learn that they can be treated to an evening here in Orem with Enrique Mazzola, Lyric Opera of Chicago’s renowned Music Director. Mr. Mazzola will make his debut with the Utah Symphony at UVU Noorda toward the end of October.
The program will begin with the dark, intense, melodramatic Overture to La forza del destino by Verdi. That will be followed by Rota’s more wistful score from Fellini’s La Strada and the finale will be Brahms Symphony No. 4 considered by many as:
For those loving Marty McFly and Deloreans and not minding the drive to Salt Lake City, the Utah Symphony will be playing a Back to the Future in Concert at the end of the month at Abravanel Hall, 123 W. S Temple.
The movie will be shown on a giant, hi-definition screen synchronized with the Utah Symphony playing Alan Silvestri’s score. Twenty minutes of Silvestri’ new music has been added to the live orchestra presentation.
Enrique Mazzola Conducts Brahms 4, Verdi & Rota at the Noorda will take place Thursday, 7:30 pm October 21st.
The Back to the Future Concert will be October 29th and 30th beginning at 7:00 pm.
