Orem heads to county fair
It will soon be mid-August, and that is the time for the annual Utah County Fair. Orem 4-Hers, families, and friends will no doubt be going sometime over the four-day event.
Wednesday, August 14, the opening night, will be the Cultural Celebration. This will be a celebration of our area’s cultural diversity.
Thursday will be Western Night Rodeo with bareback riding, mutton busting, bull riding, barrel racing, and saddle bronco riding.
Friday is reserved for Monster Trucks and Figure 8 Racing. The big draw this year will be Snakebite and Bigfoot. Saturday will be the UTC Demolition Derby 2019.
Admission and parking for these events will be free and gates will open at 6:00 pm. The events will begin at 7:00 pm.
The Youth Fun Show will be Thursday, August 15, starting at 5:30 pm. Events at this show will be the egg race, Big T, ring race, barrels, keyhole stake, Big M, and Butterfly Poles.
Animals will be shown at the Junior Livestock Show. This will consist of the Knowledge Bowl, judging contest, market goat, beef, hog, and lamb shows as well as the beef, breeding heifer, goat hog, and lamb showmanship shows. Winners often have pictures taken with their animals, which are sometimes taken to local print shops for poster printing or duplicates.
The 2019 Utah County Fair will be from August 14 through 17 at the Utah County Fairgrounds in Spanish Fork.
