Orem celebrates the outdoors at festival
The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival screenings will be shown for three days during mid- February.
The festival itself is a nine-day event in Banff, Alberta Canada. Stories of high adventure, remote treks, and trailblazing expeditions are told by authors, adventurers, photographers and filmmakers that have traveled the world.
All films have some outdoor theme such as skydiving, ice climbing, skiing, mountain rescue, and mountain biking.
Over 30 of the best of the 5-to-50 minute films are compiled into larger ones that go on tour throughout the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world. The short film winners this past year have come from Canada, United States, Spain, Lithuania, and France to Australia, Austria and Mexico. Each screening will show from six to ten films.
The three-day festival here in town will have different films each night at its outdoor adventure theater. Outdoor enthusiasts who attend films such as these sometimes like to get a little flyer printing done so they can put displays up in their clubs, neighborhoods, and work places.
The Banff Mountain Film Festival will be at the Ragan Theater at Utah Valley University, from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm on February 10, 11, and 12. The Ragan Theater is located on the Main Orem Campus at the Sorenson Student Center. Tickets will be $12.
