Music to the ears of Orem next month
November in Orem will bring a plethora of music events.
On November 12, at The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts at 800 West University Parkway, the Utah Valley University School of the Arts will present its premier 17-piece jazz ensemble in its annual Jazz Orchestra Fall Concert.
Shortly after on November 14, the school will have an evening of South American Passion as its chamber orchestra plays music from south of the border. The program will include, among other favorites, Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Piazzotta and Bachianas Brasiteiras by Villa Lobo. The curtain will go up at 7:00 pm.
On that same evening, in Provo, at the De Jong Concert Hall at the Harris Fine Arts Center in BYU, the Utah Symphony will be preforming with Kevin Cole and Thierry Fischer in an evening of Gershwin. On the program will be his Second Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra, Variations of “I Got Rhythm” for orchestra and piano, Rhapsody in Blue and Cuban Overture. The orchestra will also play Sacred Geometry by Andrew Norman. This performance will be at 7:30 pm.
Lastly, on November 19, The American Festival Orchestra Concert will highlight many of John Williams cinematic favorites as well as classics from other American composers. The event will begin at 7:00 at the Noorda Center for the Performing Arts.
Schools that offer programs for aspiring young musicians often have pictures taken at events such as these to use in the following year’s brochure printing.
