Canyoneering course brings outdoor expertise to Orem
Nature lovers and explorers will want to prepare their gear soon, as an educational canyoneering course is visiting Orem.
The Assistant Canyoneering Leader training course and exam preparation are set to start in a few weeks, offering Orem residents an opportunity to learn new skills and explore more of Utah’s vast landscapes. The course will focus on anchors, rigging, and rescue. Course instructors Austin and Rebecca Haacke will share their knowledge and expertise with attendees to ensure safe exploration.
Interested parties must sign a release form when registering for the course, which will enroll each guest with the Canyoneering Institute. Attendees will learn the skills necessary for tying knots like the double sheet bend, alpine butterfly, and directional figure 8. Instruction will also cover effective rigging methods like the retrievable guide line and carin anchors. Brochure printing is one way to document all the necessary information for beginner canyoners to study.
Registered guests are encouraged to check the weather before leaving the home and dress for the event, which will be held outdoors. Water and snacks are recommended so attendees remain refreshed throughout the learning event.
The course will be held in Orem on the weekend of June 15 and 16, with the course kicking off at 8:00 AM. Interested parties can register online, and reservations cost $169 per attendee.
