Rockwall will bring together racing and barbecue in early October.
The Rib Rub Run & Roll event has multiple lengths of races, as well as many food vendors and a barbecue competition. Music and a car show also are in place as a part of the event.
Volunteers are needed for the contest. There are several categories, with each judge being allowed to evaluate the entries in one. These include beans, spare ribs, brisket, or half a chicken. Those who are 18 or older can register online. It will take around an hour, and is located by Caine’s Corner Park. For teams, the entry fee for any of the meat categories is $80, with the bean category costing $20.
The races can be completed by either running or walking. Everyone will get a shirt with a themed graphic design printed on it as a part of their participation packet. There are 5k, 10k, and one-mile distances, costing $25, $35, $15 respectively, although these prices will increase after September 29.
The events start taking off at 8:30 am, with late registrations and pickups beginning at 7:00 am, so racers should arrive early. Entries can be bought through the city site.
Wristbands will be needed for those who want to try food set up in the tasting area. They will cost $20 and must be picked up before the event. The area will be open from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The entire festival will last from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the downtown area. The date is set to be October 2.
