Rockwall historians to host immersive Ben Franklin event

A candlelit evening is being planned in Rockwall for next month to explore the life and legacy of Benjamin Franklin, and history enthusiasts in the area can register to join.

An Evening with Ben Franklin, organized by VineCrafters, will open its doors to history lovers who wish to learn more about one of the men who helped build the United States of America. Attendees will enjoy a closer look at the wisdom and wit of the man on the 251st anniversary of Paul Revere’s midnight ride.

The evening will start with a three-course dinner that sticks to the event’s colonial theme. In addition to the meal, attendees will get to participate in thoughtful conversations that touch on themes like liberty, civic responsibility, and commerce. Print shops can provide printed Menus to share the dinner options with guests at such events, with the Menus doubling as collectible souvenirs.

Darren York, a local historian, will host the evening while impersonating Franklin. It will not be a lecture or reenactment, but rather a dinner where questions and conversations are welcome. Colonial-era clothing is encouraged but not required. A welcome drink will also be included with the meal.

VineCrafters, located on Shady Creek Lane in Rockwall, will be the host site for the historical evening. It’s scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, at 6:00 PM. Reservations can be made online for $71 per guest.
