Rockwall is back with its annual pie festival in mid-June.
This is hosted by Melissa Tate and Brittany Hardin, of Tate Farms and Bonafide Betties Pie Co respectively. The festival has been pushed forward this year to guarantee a safe gathering.
This celebration doesn’t just include pie. It also has a car show, as well as vendors of other food products, handmade items, and vintage items. There will also be live music.
Themed festivities include pies in the face for charities, and both a pie eating and pie baking contest.
To enter either contest, tickets must be purchased separately from general admission, and each have multiple age brackets. For the eating, there are three groups: 6 to 10, 11 to 15, and 16 to 99. For baking, there are only two: 3 to 14 and 15 to 99. Tickets for both events cost the same for each group, which is $6.24 in total. Winners of such contests often receive a certificate or ribbon with a graphic design printed on it.
The general admission tickets cost $11.49, so for those who plan to enter both a baking and eating contest, the total cost is just under $24. Children under 10 years old and pets can get into the festival for free, although tickets for any contests must still be purchased.
The pie festival is scheduled to take place June 12, with doors opening at 10:00 am and closing at 4:00 pm. It is located at Summerfield, which is at Tate Farms.
