Rockwall runs for violence awareness

Rockwall will be participating in the Glow Run this weekend, which benefits those affected by family and dating violence. This is a timed run, but is open to participants of all experience levels.

Glow Run for the WIN is a race to raise awareness and provide support for families affected by domestic violence. This race aims to support and educate the community to help keep people safe. This is the 7th annual run for this cause.

As the name suggests, this race is run at night. Participants are encouraged to make themselves glow with paint, glow sticks, clothing, and more. Participants will be timed by RUN2WIN timing services.

The event will start at 7:00 pm with a welcome, introductions, and some survivor testimonies. The one-mile kid run will begin at 7:45 pm. At 8:00 pm, the glow run will start. Awards and prizes will be given at 9:00 pm, and there will be an after party with a DJ and pizza available. This party is family-friendly.

The run will take place around Harry Myers Park in Rockwall. The terrain is flat with some hills, and will go around the lake. As the run is taking place in the park, participants will not have to worry about traffic. There is parking available in a few lots around the area.

Events like this often benefit from banner printing, as there are a few schools nearby and likely a fair bit of traffic in the area. This event is scheduled to take place tomorrow, May 11.
