Students from Rockwall-Heath High School have won an award for an app.
The app made by the group of students is called the ‘Iron Clad Cooking Competition’ (ICCC). Thomas Starnes, Jonathan Payne, Kyle Jackson, and Mikey Bess cooperated to secure the prestigious Congress App Challenge. Presentation Folders can be used by students who want to showcase their innovative ideas. Congressman John Ratcliffe issued a press statement that said:
“As a cybersecurity chairman in Congress, I often talk about the importance of building our cyber workforce – and the work that went into creating the Iron Clad Cooking Competition app is exactly the type of skillset we’re trying to develop in young folks all across the country.”
The ICCC app was designed with entertainment in mind, and is a game targeted at a wide audience. Congressman Ratcliffe, keen for the students to build on their success, has urged them to persist with their enthusiasm for computer science.
The app, which uses C++ programming, allows players to focus on maneuverability as they have a food-related adventure. A jazz soundtrack enhances the experience of users.
The Congressional App Challenge aims to boost student enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects. With the tech sector growing rapidly, creativity in these fields is likely to be of great importance for the future economic performance of the country.
