Outdoor festivities are sure to be everywhere around the country this Friday, and Rockwall is no exception.
Rockwall’s Independence Day Celebration is the city’s big bash, organized by its parks and recreation department. The event aims to bring the community together to enjoy a day of entertainment and happiness.
The day’s activities start off with a parade between 11:00am and 12:00pm. The route will go from Wilkerson Stadium to Dobbs Elementary.
In the evening, Harry Myers Park becomes the venue. Food trucks will offer an array of options, parachute jumpers and live music will provide entertainment, and the evening will be finished off with a fireworks show.
The park has a number of activities and designated areas available on a typical day, such as a pool, dog park, disc golf, playgrounds, walking trails, and baseball fields. Not all of these will be open to use during the celebration in order to keep proceedings safe and running smoothly.
Free parking is available in the Downtown Rockwall area. A trolley will bring attendees from there to the park and back again between 5:00 pm and 10:30 pm. Some paid parking is available directly on site at the park.
Guests are welcome to bring blankets, food, lawn chairs, and beverages. Attending both the parade and the park’s festivities is free and all are welcome. Flyer printing is a common choice for promotion of a once-per-year event.
The Rockwall party’s evening portion will run between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm this Friday, July 4.
