What's in a name?
In 1851, when early settlers like T.U. Wade were digging wells, they found large rock walls underground. Since the discovery was made about the same time the community came into being, Wade suggested the settlement be named after the formations.
The surface of the walls resembled brick, and it was first assumed they were man-made. However, later geological studies claimed they are natural formations; later still, other studies suggested they may indeed have been built by prehistoric man. In 1985, the city wanted to build a park and expose part of the wall, but had a difficult time finding it. Geoarchaeological techniques, including electrical and magnetic resistivity surveys, located the wall, and today people, especially students, visit the wall regularly. This is only one of 20 parks in the city.
Attractions like these can benefit when brochure printers create leaflets or Brochures to be distributed for visitors to use; they can describe the history, amenities, and in the case of the rock formations, some of the geological history of the area.
