Earlier this month, the 2019 class of Leadership Rockwall engaged in a ropes course and leadership retreat in nearby Commerce. They now return back to their various positions more aware of their abilities – together and individually – to impact their community.
With class members chosen from a yearly selection of up-and-coming area influencers, the Leadership Rockwall program aims to improve its members' leadership skills and deepen their awareness of the city's needs, opportunities, and challenges. Members this year are from a wide range of backgrounds and embrace many diverse approaches to problem solving. Standouts included John Arrowood and Laura Perez from the City of Rockwall, Juannae Campbell from the Boys and Girls Club of Rockwall, Dani Prates from the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce, and local “celebrity” Charisa Hauser of the Young Chefs Academy.
Last weekend's retreat was the first in a series of nine monthly full-day sessions that class members are expected to attend. In each session, members will meet with current Rockwall leaders to learn more about the city, its needs and resources, and what it means to be a leader in this growing community. It is the organization's sincere hope that “graduates” will take what they've learned and use it to strengthen Rockwall through various events and campaigns. Printing services like banner printing and poster printing can be attained from a local shop to help keep these events community focused.
