Balloon Festival set for November

Recently the Fate City Council voted to approve an agreement that will allow Rockwall News LLC to hold the first annual Rockwall County Balloon Festival at Smith Family Park.

Owner and Publisher of the Rockwall News, J. J. Smith, briefed the council on his plans for the festivities. Along with two days of balloon launches there will be an event both evenings with balloons launching aglow to music.

Dozens of merchandise vendors will be on hand along with food trucks and food vendors. Non-profit organizations who volunteer will be eligible to split 15% of the proceeds from the event and will be offered booth space to hand out Flyers, Brochures and sell items to earn more for their organizations.

Musical entertainment will be provided by four bands who will be playing throughout the weekend. For children, there will be access to a Kid’s Zone with games, a petting zoo, pony rides, and inflatable fun. Tickets can be purchased for individual rides or parents can purchase an all-day pass for their children.

The festival will take place November 11th and 12th, organizers are currently seeking volunteers as well. Admission is free for children under 3 feet tall, others will be charge $5.00. There is no fee for parking. Balloon rides will be available as well for an additional cost as well. Those wanting to enjoy a longer one to two-hour ride will be charged $300 per couple, shorter 5-minute rides, which will go up to 80 feet high, will cost $15 per child and $20 per adult.
