The Rockwall County Historical Foundation is holding its annual celebration to recap 2018 and take a look at what’s coming up in 2019.
The Rockwall County Historical Foundation (or the RCHF) was founded in 1978 with the purpose of preserving the history of Rockwall, both physical and cultural. One of the ongoing projects involves conducting oral historical interviews with older residents who can describe times gone by. It also promotes historical education in Rockwall, and preserves current locations of historical significance.
The Board of the RCHF currently has 12 members, and one of the activities of the annual meeting is the installation of new officers. Plans for 2019 will also be discussed at the meeting, including possible new installations and projects.
The annual meeting will be held in the Bailey House, on East Washington. The Bailey family was influential in early Rockwall history; they moved to the county in the 1880s and the house remained in the family for many years before being donated to the Foundation. The house was relocated, and is currently undergoing continuous renovation.
All members of the RCHF are invited to attend this event. Nonprofit organizations like this often benefit from Corporate Gifts, which help with renovations as well as educational pursuits.
This event is currently scheduled for Sunday, January 13, starting at 2:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
