The Green Door run is scheduled to return to Rockwall next month for its 11th year.
Originally founded by the Green Door Project in 2010, this race serves as a fundraiser for the Children’s Relief International (CRI) to construct homes for South Sudanese refugees in need at Uganda’s Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement. This year, the organization has made it a goal to raise enough funding to build 30 houses.
Rockwall runners of any age or level of athleticism are encouraged to sign up for this event. The race will include a 10K, 5K, and a one-mile fun run. Chip-timing will track each person’s progress and awards will be given to the top overall winners in each male and female age group. Flyer printing is often used by the organizers of such events to provide participants with race information.
Live music along with face painting and photo booths are some of the many activities that will be included in this event.
Registration fees for adults cost $35 for the 10K, $30 for the 5K, $20 for the one-mile fun run. All three prices will increase on the day of the race for last-minute registration. Kids from ages 10 to 15 can register for $10 and those who are nine and younger can join for free.
This event is scheduled to take place at the Harry Myers Park on Saturday, April 25 at 8:30 am.
