Plano life skills class to welcome special needs learners

For youth with special needs, socializing doesn’t always come naturally. A series that can give them the skills they need to thrive will soon be on offer in Plano, and it promises to be fun for all the participants.

Young people who are between the ages of 13 and 22 years old are invited to register for the Adapted Life Skills classes, which will be offered by Plano’s Parks and Recreation department. The learning style will be casual and relaxed, and it will run for two hours each Saturday.

The group will discover the value of basic life skills, and these range from performing basic household chores and tasks to handling money and budgeting. Appropriate behavior in restaurants and other public settings will be included, and the young people can take part in a variety of scenarios to help them practice their new skills in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Print shops can be counted on to supply a variety of customized materials for this sort of function. These can include speech pacing strips, name tags, social story sheets and other items, along with a certificate to give to each student once they have completed the course.

Plano will be holding its Adapted Life Skills series of classes from March 28 until April 1 at the Liberty Recreation Center. It will run from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm each Saturday between these dates.
