To many enthusiasts, there's nothing quite like eating freshly picked tomato still warm from the sun. and a Plano area activity will help local home horticulturalists grow a bumper crop.
North Texas Food Bank has teamed up with Texas A&M to bring the “All About Tomatoes” class to the community. It will be taking place at 715 Rowlett Road, and it is free to join in.
The workshop will teach the basics of growing tomatoes, and the information shared may be helpful whether they are grown in a pot on a balcony or out in a garden bed. Various varieties and types will be discussed such as cherry, beefsteak and heritage cultivars, and both determinate and determinate growth types will be included. The class will run for one and a half hours. The listing for the activity explained that, as part of the function may take place outdoors, everyone should come dressed for the weather and bring some water to drink.
Home horticulture gives the public a chance to become more sustainable by growing some of their own food. Tip sheets, gardener’s Journals, and promotional Pens are just a few of the items that Print shops will be able to provide for an event like this.
This chance to learn how to grow top-quality tomatoes will be offered on April 9. It will begin at 10:00 am, and AgriLife Urban Program Specialist Jeff Raska will serve as the facilitator.
