A butterfly garden offers a welcome respite for flying pollinators, and one of these installations located in the Plano area is seeking volunteers to give it a good spring clean.
The care team at Armstrong Park Butterfly Garden is looking for helping hands for a variety of tasks. The planting project has been approved by the North Texas Master Naturalist Chapter, and it gives the community and local school a chance to learn about, or just enjoy, the beauty of its flowers and other plants.
The helpers will be assigned an assortment of tasks that will help to “wake the garden up” for another season. They will be digging weeds, mulching, and pruning, and have been asked to bring along pruners, work gloves, and gardening tools if they have them. They should also wear closed-toed shoes and dress appropriately for the activity at hand.
Offering the public an opportunity to get involved with an environmental stewardship activity like this often sees them become stakeholders in the project. Print shops will be able to offer an assortment of ways to help get the word out to those who may be interested in getting involved.
The Armstrong Park Butterfly Garden can be found in Garland’s Armstrong Park, and this afternoon of TLC has been scheduled for May 23. Everyone is asked to be on site by 2:00 pm, and the work will continue until 3:00 pm.
