The Neighborhood Night Out program is a national level campaign that works to build safe communities, and Pearland is on the list of cities planning to get involved this year.
This initiative sees members of law enforcement, firefighters and other public safety groups attend neighborhood block parties, along with members of the public. This gives neighbors a chance to meet one another in a relaxed and fun setting, and there are a variety of ways to take part.
The organizers of the event noted that some of the ideas in the works for the evening include cookouts, walks and other gatherings, and these will all take place at the same time. It was explained that simply leaving the front porch light on will signify support for the activity, and this will show living proof that Pearland is a city with a strong sense of community spirit.
Anyone who plans on hosting an event during the National Night Out celebration is asked to register it with the city. Print shops can prepare tool kits to distribute to these planners to help make it easier for them to organize their contribution to large organized functions like these.
