At its 50th Annual Crime Prevention Luncheon the Exchange Club of Pearland recognized the Pearland Officer of the Year, as Osiel De La Cruz.
The Exchange Club of Pearland, in conjunction with the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast District (TLGCD), used its luncheon on April 9 to present the award. The luncheon was held in Missouri City at the City Centre at Quail Valley. In addition to the honoring of Officer De La Cruz, the Wounded Warrior Project’s Deven Schei gave a presentation.
Now in his fifth year at the Pearland Police Department, Officer De La Cruz’s work record last year included the arrest of 53 suspects relating to a variety of charges.
De La Cruz was accompanied to the event by his wife, brother, and parents. In addition, Tom Reid, Pearland’s Mayor was present. Support was also shown by the likes of Clay Pearson, who is Pearland’s City Manager. Fellow officers Police Captain Randall, Sergeant Ybarra, and Detective Eric Morton, who is an Awards Committee member, were in attendance too.
Printing companies are used by police departments in a number of capacities. Likely, the recipient of Police Officer of the Year will be included in some of the professionally printed products the department orders.
The honoree received a recognition certificate, challenge coin and a U.S. flag that was flown above the United States Capitol.
