The Houston Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas is holding its annual fundraiser this September. This can be an excellent opportunity to get some new plants for the garden, and Pearland green thumbs are welcome to come out to browse and buy.
The group will have a large selection of native plants for sale, many of which will have a provenance in the local area. This means they will be well suited to the area’s growing conditions and resistant to the pests and diseases that may occur there.
Once the shoppers have browsed through the plants and made their selections, they will be welcome to stop by the tables that will be filled with Books related to gardening and other natural themes. There will also be a silent auction and drawings for an assortment of prizes. Hand made crafts and donated items will be up for bids, and the proceeds will help the chapter continue to offer a variety of programs and scholarships in the area.
As well as the sale, auction and prize draws, there will be a series of presentations covering topics ranging from bats to choosing the right native plant for a particular location. Flyers can be a cost-effective way to promote an event like this, and flyer printing companies can be counted on to supply them.
This “grass roots” fundraiser will be on offer to the Pearland gardening public on September 21st. The Anderson-Clarke center at Rice University will serve as the venue for the day’s activities.
