The Pearland Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association has issued an invitation to everyone from the local area to lace up their sneakers and get ready to participate in the 13th annual Pear Run.
Pearland Town center will serve as the staging area for the event, which will include both 5 and 10K runs, as well as a 5K walk and a fun run for the kids age 8 and under. The 10K event has been sanctioned by the USATF. Along with the races, walks, and fun runs, there will be beverages provided and the organizers have planned an assortment of activities that they hope will make it a fun day for all. Monies raised through the event will be used to help support the community’s police department. In previous years, the funds have helped to purchase and then train three police dogs, buy two police bicycles, and purchase computer software including updates to its Crash Data Recovery System. Even those who are not able to take part in person can still lend a helping hand by sponsoring the run.
May 6 has been selected as the day for the Pear Run, and everyone who registers to take part before April 1 will receive a custom designed t-shirt. Additional details, as well as information for those who wish to sponsor the activity, can be found on its website.
