The City of Pearland, already within 10 miles of the world renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC), is attracting a variety of medical facilities, with one open as of this month, and another following at the end of the year.
January 17 saw the opening of a Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) facility, the 30-bed Pearland Medical Center, which will join Pearland Medical Plaza at Hwy. 228 and Shadow Creek Parkway. The existing Plaza has been providing an imaging center, emergency facility, and three-story office building.
Despite its proximity to the largest medical complex in the world, Pearland has, until recently been without its own hospital. The city has, however, had more than its fair share of healthcare workers; more TMC employees live in Pearland than any other community in the Houston area.
Now, local healthcare professionals will be able to cut their commute time due to the introduction of medical centers in their own town.
With additional healthcare providers and administrative personnel, numerous auxiliary businesses will likely emerge and grow, bringing further job opportunities. As new facilities open, printing companies will no doubt have numerous opportunities to provide services such as Brochures, Business Cards, and Stationery printing.
Another hospital, the 64-bed Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, is expected to open in December this year. It will be an accompaniment to the Memorial Hermann outpatient that opened last February at Hwy. 288 and Business Center Drive.
