New location for yearly floral event

Keep Pearland Beautiful (KPB) is once again hosting its Plant Thyme Fall Luncheon, with a few changes for this 12th year of the event.

This yearly happening is one way KPB is able to raise money for environmental programs and initiatives. Chris Wiesinger, otherwise known as ‘The Bulb Hunter’, will be the this year's guest speaker, and as a bonus, the Southern Bulb Company will have bulbs available for sale to luncheon attendees from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Catalog printing services assist seed companies in showing what they have to offer. Gardeners can then see the plants in person and try them out before committing to placing an order.

This year, the luncheon will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Pearland’s Family Life Center on Friday, October 9. At 10:30 am, the doors will open, so guests will have an opportunity to participate in a silent auction and do some plant shopping before the luncheon program commences.

The second day of the native and adaptive plant sale takes place the next day from 8:00 am to noon at the Pearland Farmers Market, which is located at Zychlinski Park. Plants sold at both the luncheon on Friday and those on Saturday will have been selected because they are either native to the area or have proven themselves adaptable to the weather and soil found in Brazoria County.
