On May 9, at Pearland Regional Airport, more than 400 pilots, families, residents and community leaders got together at KLVJ’s first open house.
Pearland Regional Airport (KLVJ) provided attendees with barbecue supplied by Central Texas as well as numerous door prizes donated by airport stakeholders. The Texas Flight team, which calls KLVJ its home base, showed off their T-6 aircraft on the ramp. Additionally, Commemorative Air Force Houston Wing members flew in, answered questions and permitted attendees to get an up close view of their cockpits.
The airport’s management company, Texas Aviation Partners, along with Western, LLC, their development partner, took advantage of the open house to unveil the first phase of their airport development plans. Phase 1 includes a condo hangar, T-hangars and a community hangar, which has already been put to good use: it was the venue for the Open House meal service.
Texas Aviation Partners took over the airport’s long-term management program and Fixed Base Operation in mid-2013. Bouncy houses, BBQ and paper airplane contests aside, showcasing improvements the airport’s new management has made as well as keep the public informed of future plans was the motivation behind the Open House.
