Well-known play set to shoot into Irving

Irving's Lyric Stage will be the setting for a concert version of ‘Annie Get Your Gun’, the popular Irving Berlin musical. The show will take place in the Carpenter Performance Hall.

The concert will be directed and choreographed by Ann Nieman, while Jay Dias, the music director of the Lyric Stage, will conduct the 38-piece orchestra. Orchestrations for this version of the musical are by Ruth Anderson and Robert Russell Bennett. Starring as Annie Oakley will be Daron Cockerell, and Frank Butler will be played by Michael Hewitt.

The musical features such classic songs as ‘You Can't Get a Man with a Gun’, ‘Doin' What Comes Naturally’, and the theme song of performers everywhere, ‘There's No Business Like Show Business’.

Lyric Stage was created to preserve and develop the American musical. Lyric is a professional theater company, and is the only one locally produced. The founder of the troupe, Steven Jones, has led the Lyric Stage to a number of awards, and the company has thus far presented two Off-Broadway shows, and 17 musicals that were world premieres.

The concert is slated for January 22 through the 25, and tickets are available at the Lyric Stage website, or at the box office. Lyric Stage management could work with a poster printing company to design fun Posters for the upcoming concert performance.
