For the fifth year in a row, Irving residents will have a chance to sample food and music of all kinds, as the Taste of Irving celebrates the city's varied cultures, history, activities, and food.
This year, festivalgoers will be able to listen to a variety of different types of music on a number of small stages. The genres to be played include blues, jazz, and Latin music. There will be two musical performances on the main stage at the culmination of the event. Some of the stages will feature culinary demonstrations.
New this year is a stage for youth performances, and a performance by children by the Dallas Black Dance Theatre. In addition, there will be an open mic in the park for those who want to share their poetry, while returning attractions include a children's fun zone, and over 20 food vendors, who will be selling their cuisine for $5 or less.
Admission to the Taste of Irving is free, and so is the parking, which is at Ranchview High School on East Valley Ranch Parkway. A shuttle will take attendees from the lot to the festival.
Taste of Irving is set for next Saturday, May 19, from noon until 6:00 pm, at Cimmaron Park Recreation Center on Red River Trail.
