Great Hearts Irving, a school in the Great Hearts Academies network, celebrated its future home with a recent groundbreaking ceremony. For the last four years, the school has had no permanent home.
The site of the ceremony, where the school will stand, was the corner of World Cup Way and Beltline Road. The lower school’s headmaster, Tami Perkins, said the school has been successful in managing its growth, creating a community of students across all the lower grades. However, an increasing number of high school students means the school has outgrown its Story Road home. Aside from this, Perkins says, it is time the school had a permanent home. Changes like this give staff members a chance to consider a change in Logo Design.
Philip Althage, headmaster of the upper school, is looking forward to moving upper school students from the space the institution currently rents into a permanent home. Students in the seventh through twelfth grades will enter the upper school in Fall 2019. Lower school students will join their older colleagues when the current campus lease expires. When the two schools are combined, Great Hearts Irving will have a total of 1,400 students.
Great Hearts are public charter schools that offer tuition-free classical education for grades K-12. The courses concentrate on science, math, foreign languages, and the arts, and the school also offers a number of extracurricular activities.
