Organizers need help with Trash Bash

Irving's annual clean-up event is on the way, and organizers need volunteers to help in the effort.

Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) holds a yearly Trash Bash, a day-long effort to beautify the city. It is also a chance for people to enjoy being outside and working with others in a worthwhile community event. The area to be cleaned up this year is the T.W. Richardson Grove Park, located on the northeast corner of I-635 and Valley View.

KIB is asking everyone—business organizations, groups of all kinds, and individuals—to pitch in and make the 2018 Trash Bash the biggest yet. The cleanup is open to everyone who's interested, and there's no minimum age limit; however, KIB is capping the number of volunteers at 600. The effort celebrates the successful collaboration among the Solid Waste Services, Parks and Recreation, and KIB departments.

KIB is providing all the supplies necessary, such as gloves, recycle Bags, trash bags, and litter pickers, and will be providing lunch when the cleanup is finished. Volunteers have a chance to receive a free T-shirt if they bring a canned food item to donate. T-shirts and similar items distributed at events like this are known as Promotional Products, and have proved to be a successful marketing tool for businesses of all kinds.

Irving's 2018 Trash Bash is set for September 29, from 9:00 am until noon. Volunteers are asked to register by September 21, at the KIB website or by phone.
