A gigantic new venue—a grouping of movie screens, bars, restaurants, and spots for live music—just opened in Irving, and the inaugural concert in the complex brought legendary rockers ZZ Top to the city.
First called the Irving Music Factory, the new complex is now named the Toyota Music Factory. Noah Lazes, president of the ARK Group, said he recently signed a deal with Toyota to give the car manufacturer the sponsorship.
The concert hall, which spans a huge 115,300 square feet, is operated by the largest concert promoter in the nation, Live Nation. The hall is the only part of the complex that is currently open, and acts as the project anchor. When the development is completed, more than two dozen new venues will join the concert hall, offering patrons places to drink and eat. Included in the mix is a bowling alley and an Alamo Drafthouse.
Despite the fact that similar mega-complexes are planned for nearby communities like The Colony and Plano, Lazes is confident the Irving center will succeed, as the city is, as he says, “entertainment deprived.” There has been little or no construction of entertainment venues in Irving since the 1970s, and Lazes believes that residents will flock to something new that is so readily available.
Openings in venues like this can be even more fun if store owners use colorful Banners to decorate.
