The 14th Annual DFW Dragon Boat, Kite, and Lantern Festival will take place in Irving this October for anyone interested in learning more about traditional Chinese cultural traditions.
The multicultural festival is hosted by the Marco Polo World Foundation, which is a public charity and nonpartisan organization promoting appreciation of diverse cultural traditions and customs by supporting and organizing cultural appreciation festivals such as the one happening in October.
The Dragon Boat, Kite, and Lantern Festival will feature as its main attraction the traditional Chinese water sport of dragon boat racing, which originated in China over 2,000 years ago. Organizers invite individuals to register their teams to race their dragon boats during the festival. Attendees will also be able to observe and participate in kite flying activities. There will be various traditional cultural performances to see as well, highlighting different countries, such as Japan, Vietnam, China, Korea, Mexico, and the Philippines. A robust selection of vendors and food trucks will also be onsite.
