Manufacturer of robots to provide training centers

A robotics company has announced that it plans to open training centers in countries across the globe, including one in Irving.

Denmark-based Universal Robots (UR) makes what are known as collaborative robots, called ‘cobots’. These are small, lightweight devices that share space with human beings, performing tasks such as packing. UR is preparing to put 50 of its “Authorized Training Centers” (ATCs) into operation worldwide. There will be 13 such centers in North America. Print shops can assist in creating course materials for efforts like this.

There are already five centers open in the United States, operated by the sales partners of Universal Robots. They are in St. Louis, Missouri and Lenexa, Kansas, where they are run by HTE Technologies. Advanced Control Solutions operates a center in Marietta, Georgia, and the Ralph W. Earl Company is running an ATC in Syracuse, New York. The fifth is in Malvern, Pennsylvania, where Applied Controls oversees its operation.

UR plans to run four centers directly, and will open the locations soon in Irvine, California; Garden City, New York; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Irving. The centers will conduct small-sized classes to teach students how to program the cobots. They will offer courses in various skill levels, from very basic to extremely advanced. Subjects such as industrial communication, interface usage, and cobot scripting will be taught by certified trainers.
