What's Happening in Irving, TX…

Alamo Drafthouses everywhere, including the Irving location, are preparing for the ‘M. Night Shyamalanathon’” which will allow attendees to see film director M. Night Shyamalan's newest work, ‘Glass’, the final entry in his trilogy. Fan who go to the Drafthouse will see the film a week before its nationwide opening.

Glass stars Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, and James McAvoy, and follows ‘Unbreakable’, released in 2000, and ‘Split’, from 2016. The films have been classified as “superhero” movies, but only in the sense that strange “superpowers” are involved.

The movies are connected, as the same characters appear in each one, though the plots are different. The first is a mystery about David Dunn (Bruce Willis), the only survivor of a terrible yet mysterious train wreck. The second is a story that explores the origins of the trilogy's villain, and Glass will tie the ends together. Executives say the films are far outside the mold of today's superhero films, with nary a cape in sight.

All three films will be screened one after another in Alamo Drafthouses in 25 locations. The event includes a conversation with Shyamalan, which will be broadcast from the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn, live. Events like this can benefit if organizers use poster printing to create publicity for the show.

The screenings are set for this Saturday, January 12, with the film opening January 18.
