Irving's Water Utilities Department is auditing all the existing water meters in the city, to determine their condition, make and model, and age, and to see if they need to be replaced.
A Colorado Springs, Colorado company, Mountain States Pipe and Supply (MSPS), has been contracted to perform the audit. All the installation and audit work will be done either by MSPS, or by employees of the City of Irving. The contractor will provide the labor to install new meters, if necessary, through the beginning of June. The work is weather dependent.
During the audit, MSPS will work with Irving's meter readers to make sure the audit goes smoothly, and in tandem with the city's normal meter-reading schedule. This will help make certain billing is correct for the next cycle.
Irving officials remind residents not to allow unidentified personnel into their homes. To maintain safety, Irving required background Checks to be performed on all installers. In addition, all the MSPS personnel wear a badge clearly identifying them as an outside contractor for Irving. The badges also identify installers as ERT installers, or meter readers. Additionally, installers have been given temporary ID badges from the City of Irving.
Audits will be done by appointment, and the city once again reminds residents not to allow anyone to enter unless they already have an appointment and the proper identification. Officials dealing with projects like this can use flyer printing to inform residents.
