Prospective pet parents in Irving will have a chance to adopt their new “baby” soon.
For the sixth year, animal shelters in North Texas will be hosting a full-day adoption event so people can meet a prospective pet and give him or her a forever home. The Clear the Shelters event will be held at the Irving Animal Care Campus on Valley View Lane. Irving Animal Services will be working with over 54 shelters from North Texas to find forever homes for shelter animals, and is waiving adoption fees for the day.
In 2014, Irving instituted Clear the Shelters because of the number of baby animals born in the spring and summer that were then brought to shelters. According to the records of DoSomething.org, 3.4 million cats and 3.9 million dogs are surrendered to shelters across the country annually. The Clear the Shelters effort has brought awareness about animal adoptions to communities, as well as showing how loving shelter pets can be.
Rich Stopfer, Irving's mayor, said it is amazing to watch the community band together to help shelter pets and homeless animals, and he's proud the movement started in Irving. Since the first Clear the Shelters event, over 256,000 animals have been adopted.
Poster printing is often used to promote events like this. Clear the Shelters will be held August 17, from 9.30 am until 5.00 pm.
