Parkway Drive is bringing its “Viva The Underdogs North American Revolution 2020” tour to Irving for a performance at the Toyota Music Factory. The band first got together in 2003 in Byron Bay, a city in New South Wales. Their rehearsal space was on Parkway Drive, and since venues for metal bands to rehearse were hard to find, they paid tribute to the “Parkway House” where they practiced by taking it as their name.
In 2004, they released an EP, “Don't Close Your Eyes,” which sold well, then dropped their debut full-length album, “Killing with a Smile,” in 2005. It climbed to No. 39 on the Australian charts. The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) certified it Gold.
They charted for the first time in the United States in 2010, with their album “Deep Blue,” and every effort since, most recently 2018's “Reverence,” has hit the charts. ARIA nominated the band for its new “Best Hard Rock, Heavy Metal Album” award for “Deep Blue.” They won, representing the first time Parkway Drive received an award from the organization.
