New exhibit honors Mandela

The exhibit "Mandela: Struggle for Freedom" is now showing in Houston and will be until early next year.

Nelson Mandela, the South African activist, was imprisoned in 1964 at Robben Island. He lived there until he was finally released in 1990. He went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and then became South Africa's President in 1994. He died in 2013.

The exhibit highlights many aspects of his imprisonment. There is a recreation of the prison cell he lived in for 18 years, a "wall of laws" citing many of the laws he campaigned against, and artifacts such as letters, tools, and segregation Signs.

Visitors to the exhibit can purchase many related items, including stickers, Books, Posters, and Shopping Bags. They can also buy a catalog of the exhibition.

This event will no doubt be interesting to many people in the Houston area. To help spread the word about such events, local printing services companies often provide advertising products.

The exhibition is on display at the Holocaust Museum Houston until January 3, 2021. The museum is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Admission is $19 for adults aged 19 and over and $15 for seniors, military personnel and AARP members; it is free for members of the museum and children. Call 713-942-8000 for more information.
