A world of options is available when it comes to wild foraged foods, and a Houston workshop will introduce a variety of these plant species to those looking to take advantage of this bounty.
The Houston Botanic Garden boasts a rich scene of biodiversity, and during its Foraging: Taste a Bit of Nature class, it will introduce those species that are edible. The fee is included in the admission ticket price for the venue. Last month’s event sold out, so interested parties may want to book their place quickly.
The guide for the session will introduce a variety of indigenous plants that have culinary uses, and everyone will be able to do some taste testing. The activity will involve walking, and it will run for approximately one and half hours. The gardens are located at One Botanic Lane and offer free parking.
As people become interested in living a more sustainable lifestyle, foraging may become an increasingly popular pastime. Taking part in a workshop can help them to hit the ground running when it comes to knowing how to ethically forage for wild foods. Recipe cards, species ID tip sheets, and other handouts for an educational event can be prepared by a local printing services company.
This opportunity for anyone new to foraging to get their feet wet will begin at 6:30 pm on Saturday, July 27th. Tickets may be reserved in advance through the Gardens’ website.
