There are two Lunar New Year festivals taking place in Houston next month to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Dog.
The first one is the Lunar New Year Houston festival which will be held over two days. In past years, the festival has consisted of performances by Asian cultural groups, fireworks, and a red envelope ceremony. Some of the performers have included the Shaolin Academy, the Lien Hoa Temple and the Lasallian Youth Troupe. Performances usually include lion dances, Korean dance and martial arts displays. Vendors will also be on hand to sell related merchandise and traditional food and drink will be available for purchase.
Another festival, this one only one-day long, is the 22nd annual Texas Lunar Festival. It will also include a variety of ceremonies, cultural performances, traditional foods for purchase, and vendors.
Both festivals will likely attract thousands of visitors from the Houston area. To spread the word, organizers may invest in poster printing services.
Lunar New Year Houston will be held at the Viet Hoa Center and Beltway Plaza from February 24 to 25, beginning at 10:00 AM each day. Admission is free of charge. To learn more, visit the official event website.
The Texas Lunar Festival will take place on February 24 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Southern News Building. For more information, call 832-448-0190.
