Houston event to welcome new and experienced birders

The Houston Arboretum and Nature Center provides the city and the surrounding area with opportunities to learn about and enjoy nature, and it will be giving its feathered set a day in the sun this October.

The location will be hosting a bird walk this October, and as it will be during the fall migration, the participants may see many species that either call the location their winter home or are passing through on their way south, which may make it easier for the attendees to spot a “lifer.” The walk will be led by one of the Center’s staff members.

As the group goes along, participants will record the species and tally any birds they see. All skill levels can participate, making it suitable for newbie bird watchers. A request has been made that dogs be left at home, and while there will be a few pairs of binoculars available, the registrants have been advised to bring their own if they can.

In-person environmental-themed events give members of the public a chance to learn about and appreciate nature. Supplying the attendees with ID guides, field Notebooks, promotional Pens, and other materials may help encourage them to keep on learning.

The bird walk will be on offer on October 8. Everyone is asked to be on site by its scheduled start time of 8:00 am.
