Printing and papermaking has a long history, and a Houston museum that explores this in depth has planned a class focused on crafting handmade marbled papers.
Tony Vela will soon be facilitating a workshop that will show how easy it can be to craft beautiful papers by hand. It will cover the art of making marbled paper from start to finish, and everyone will go home with at least 15 sheets to use in their own projects.
While no experience is necessary to participate, the function is intended for adults only. The group will learn how to prepare the materials, including the pigments, and patterns such as gel, stone marble, peacock, French curl, and Spanish wave will be taught. The price to participate is $120, which includes the materials, and it will be hosted in person.
Many people enjoy learning a new skill, and a workshop offers them a chance to do so in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Marketing materials for an event may be prepared by a local flyer printing company, and they can then be deployed in prominent locations throughout the community.
This easy introduction to the basics of paper marbling will begin at 1:00 pm on May 13. It will be on offer at The Printing Museum’s new location, which can be found at 3121 San Jacinto Street.
