Fundraiser showcases Mexican food and culture

The 3rd annual Houston Fajita Festival is taking place next month, and is a fundraiser for the Texas Lions Camp.

The event is a celebration of everything Mexican, including the food (not just fajitas), drinks, culture, and entertainment.

There will be live art walls where the public can watch a piece of work in progress, a photo area, a kids’ playground with inflatables and fun activities, and DJs. There will also be costumed characters, Mexican wrestling (known as ‘lucha libre’), Mariachi bands and vendors. Vendors will be on hand to sell a variety of Mexican-related arts and crafts and festival souvenirs; they may also give out Promotional Products such as Pens.

There are also set to be taco and jalapeno eating contests for people aged 18 and over and a watermelon eating contest for children aged 17 and younger.

Funds raised will go to support the Texas Lions Camp, a one-week residential camp for children with physical disabilities, Type 1 diabetes, and cancer. The camp runs nine separate sessions during the summer.

It is likely some of the vendors may invest in banner printing services from a Houston Print shop to make their booths more appealing.

The Houston Fajita Festival will be held on July 28 at Houston Community College from 1:00 to 8:00 PM. Admission is free of charge and parking is $7. Call 713-325-3395 for more information.
