Houston workshop to introduce mosaic making

Mosaics have been made for thousands of years, and a Houston workshop series will teach how to craft these artistic creations using modern methods.

The classes, which are geared towards the beginner, will explore the history of mosaics and how and where they were used. After this, it will be time for the group to get crafting.

Using the materials provided, the learners will be walked through the process of making a mosaic. They will choose the pattern, apply the tiles and grouting, then add the final finishing touches. Each of the four sessions will run for two hours, and both Italian Cultural & Community Center (ICCC) members and the general public are welcome. A short supply list has been prepared, consisting of items that can be purchased in most art supply stores. Other supplies will be included in the ticket price.

Learning a new craft or hobby can be a rewarding experience. Supply lists, tip and instruction sheets, and other handouts for a workshop can be ordered from Stationery printers, which may be able to accept requests online, in person, or by phone.

This introduction to the art of mosaic making will begin at 6:30 pm on Monday, April 8, with further workshops taking place on the next three Mondays after that date. It will be on offer at 101 Milford Street.
