Houston show to welcome orchidophiles

The Houston Orchid Society welcomes both novice and experienced growers alike when it hosts its annual spring show in early March.

The four-day show will be filled with opportunities to see a variety of exhibits that feature terrestrial, epiphytic, and many other types of orchids, and both native and exotic species will be in the mix. Anyone who would like to enter a plant has been provided with tips for making sure theirs is ready for show, and several awards will be presented.

Along with an opportunity to have their plants judged or just enjoy viewing the various exhibits, the activity will feature a vendor area filled with supplies and tropical plants. At least seven businesses are on the list, and there will also be opportunities for the attendees to meet and share advice and growing tips.

To help make the occasion a success, the planners highlight the importance of volunteers. There are various roles that need to be filled, one of which will be handing out the certificates and corporate gifts that will be presented to the winners in the various categories being judged.

This celebration of the beauty of orchids has been scheduled to run from March 2 to 5 at 303 Memorial City Way. Its website provides more information for anyone who would like to volunteer or attend the show in person.
