A Houston event that celebrates the spirit and work of Dr. Martin Luther King will help to open 2023, making sure everyone has a seat at the table.
This popular local tradition, which is dubbed “MLK Peace Through Pies,” will be celebrating its 7th year. It will raise both funds and awareness, and will work towards creating a community that is inclusive to all.
Those who attend the festivities will be treated to food, friends, and fun, and sampling pies will be the order of the day. Entertainers will be on hand, and everyone will be invited to vote for their top pie pick. Workshops will explore community gardens as well as healthy cooking and eating, and the function is being held at no charge to the public. Beauty’s Community Garden will be the organizer and host for the occasion.
A friendly competition often calls for specialty designed awards to present to the winners. Stationery printers will be happy to help, and can prepare certificates as well as corporate gifts to offer as prizes. It can also craft tokens of appreciation to give to any volunteers who lend a hand.
The 2023 Peace Through Pies celebration will kick off at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 14. Frank Black Middle School is set to be the venue for the day.
